SMART INTERNSHIPS
Interns from all different academic backgrounds and majors are invited to apply for the following roles:
EDUCATION AND PROGRAMING INTERNSHIP
Indicative list of potential roles and tasks:

Identify key learning areas around which activities can be developed.

Create innovative learning packages and activities for educational institutes or incoming student delegations based on their curriculums and syllabus requirements.

Concept test proposed activities by conducting pilot runs with target audiences

Set expected outcomes/benchmarks for every activity for students.

Create activity evaluation mechanisms to review the impact of activity on end-users.
-
Create special packages for students in which they can participate during their vacations / public holidays.
-
Lead guided walks through the Nature Forest at the park and help the students experience a complete ecosystem.
-
Engage students from different backgrounds in team-building and leadership exercises, educate them using cutting-edge technology, and teach them about selected modules such as alternate sources of energy and global warming.
LOCAL PUBLIC RELATIONS INTERNSHIP
Indicative list of potential roles and tasks:

Develop innovative promotional strategies to spread awareness of SMART around Maharashtra and India.

Conceptualize and conduct events in schools/various locations for promotion of SMART.

Visit local institutes and make presentations about SMART to administrators/ management/ teachers.

Network and connect with various institutes in India to market SMART Educational Packages.

Work with International Marketing Interns to conceptualize promotional campaigns.
-
Produce the creatives/graphic design/copy-writing for these campaigns.
-
Mobilize resources to execute campaigns.
-
Participate in various events/exhibitions which are relevant to SMART.

Conceptualize social media campaigns and conduct events to create awareness amongst the local and national community about SMART and its activities.

Write press releases about the park to disseminate to local and national publications

Communicate with and reach out to local and national press sources to stimulate journalists to write about the park

Reach out to local parenting and family organizations to spread awareness of SMART day visits.

Identify various avenues for strategic partnerships with local and national organizations which are beneficial to SMART.

Create long-term strategies and curriculums for interns and volunteers to encourage personal development throughout their duration at SMART

Conduct self-care activities for interns and volunteers to encourage personal wellbeing

Conduct bonding activities for interns and volunteers to enhance strength of the SMART team

Help interns and volunteers with their beginning transition to SMART

Lead local and international volunteer training

Market SMART volunteer and intern opportunities at local intern and volunteer fairs

Advertise volunteer and internship opportunities both locally and internationally

Develop reflection practices for interns and volunteers to document their work and their experiences
HORTICULTURE INTERNSHIP
Indicative list of potential roles and tasks:
-
SMART has planted over 200,000 plants in a barren piece of land. Most plants are native to India. Interns will be given instruction in a range of garden maintenance and horticultural tasks and be expected to execute them with a high degree of care and attention.

General duties include weeding, general clean-up, dead-heading, sweeping, raking, planting, potting, plant removal, and pruning. Interns will not use power tools or chemicals.

Interns would also get an opportunity to learn about Ayurvedic Medicine. SMART has an Ayurvedic Medicinal forest. Ayurveda is a 5000 years old Indian health care system that is widely practiced even today. Ayurvedic medicine is a system of traditional medicine native to India and a form of alternative medicine. In Sanskrit, words āyus, meaning “longevity”, and veda, meaning “knowledge” or “science”. Volunteers can learn about the healing power of nature and natural remedies.

Interns will learn hands-on about the latest horticultural techniques needed in tropical climate and water management systems for irrigation from in-house experts at the park.

SMART Park has an animal barn housing animals including some that have been rescued. There is a cowshed with purebred Gir cows. Interns can learn about and assist with husbandry, animal rehabilitation, veterinary medicine and animal nutrition.

Learn about primary and secondary succession in tropical environments
-
Assist students who are conducting research at the park
*** Horticulture Interns will be expected to conduct a research project on a topic of their choice during their duration at the park. The project proposal can be developed with the assistance of the SMART team before coming to the park, or can be decided upon soon after arrival.
ADMINISTRATIVE AND PARK MANAGEMENT INTERNSHIP
